Our new office

November 24th, 2010 · 1 Comment

We have outgrown our old office (just like your kids are outgrowing their clothes) and have moved effective 11/22. Our new office address is 526 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, just 2 blocks east from our former site. The phone numbers remain the same. We think you will like our new digs, which has an additional exam room, along with a bigger waiting area. Next up-a new Morristown office, which should be opening the first week of January. We appreciate all your referrals which have made our practice the premier midwifery service in New Jersey!

Female Genital Mutilation approved by the AAP?

May 7th, 2010 · No Comments

A very disturbing piece of information has come to light via Feministing.com concerning a recent position statement by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) concerning ritual female circumcision or female genital mutilation (FGM). Th AAP is condoning a “ritual nick” for those families who request. Many organizations all over the world are fighting for the cessation of this mutilation of girls. How dare the AAP apparently condone this?? I find this extremely disturbing, as FGM is know to cause painful intercourse, urinary tract difficulties, infection and even death when done under less than sterile conditions. It is a way to keep women from enjoying sex, and hence, controll their behavior. It is appalling to me that this occurs anywhere, and needs to be stopped to protect young girls and women worldwide. Here is the article from Feministing.com http://www.feministing.com/archives/021093.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
